Actually it is the "diet" food and pop. The artificial sugar in them actually will stick to your fat cells and not let them decrease at all. So it's better to just not drink pop at all.

Well, I have lost weight before while drinking my fair share of diet soda and I will continue to drink them as I loose weight this time. Don't belive something just because some one reports it as true.

I don't believe it because of that one report. I've known that for years...I've heard it many times by many different people and in a lot of reports. Dr's have even told me this. As I'm in healthcare I hear it a lot from a lot of doctors.

But everyone is different....but I doubt that it's simply because you are drinking diet pop that is helping you lose weight. The problem is that people think just cuz they're drinking diet pop that they can eat a big mac and it wont' affect them. "Diet" is a negative word anyway. Whenever I hear it I want to cringe...it makes me think that I can't eat what I want to. And of course in a way I can't, but I can limit what I do eat of what I like and be just fine.

I'm with Kayia on this. I've read and heard about this phenomenon for a few years now from many different sources. It's just now coming to light.
I also don't drink diet soda (or any soda for that matter...did you know drinking soda, diet or otherwise can increase your chances of getting esphogeal cancer, esp. in men?) because the chemicals that they use to sweeten it are much more dangerous than sugar (before the FDA was pressured by Reagan to approve it, aspartame was considered a toxin, and Splenda got approved with only a handful of people being tested short term, ask me for more info). In the end, it's not the soda that is helping you lose weight, it's most likely your reduced caloric intake and increased exercise, but you might lose faster if you omit the soda. Soda also can bloat you.
Water is always the best option.
